The chips are cooked. Please don't convene a committee.
Madogs Malt Vinegar Spray puts malt vinegar in a 250 ml bottle with a trigger dispenser and a lock. You spray a little over cooked chips, taste, then decide whether you want more. A rare domestic decision with no obvious need for mediation.
How to use malt vinegar spray on chips
- Plate up your cooked chips. Spread them out so you can season across the plate. A mountain looks dramatic but leaves the lower residents out of proceedings.
- Unlock the trigger. Follow the instructions on your bottle and aim the nozzle towards the food.
- Spray a little, then taste. Squeeze the trigger over the chips and try one. Add more if you prefer a stronger vinegar flavour. Start small: dinner is not a confidence exercise.
- Finish to your taste. Turn or toss the chips if you'd like to season more surfaces. Add your usual accompaniments and serve.
- Relock after use. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, following the bottle label.
How much vinegar should you use?
There isn't a fixed number of sprays for every plate. Portions, chip sizes and preferences differ. Start with a little and taste before adding more. Stop when you like it. This is your dinner; even the loudest person in the kitchen can find another project.
Three serving ideas, none requiring a personality transplant
- The chip supper: spray over your cooked chips and serve with your favourite chip-shop main. A familiar evening, with fewer forms to fill in.
- Chips and tomato ketchup: season the chips, then serve Madogs Tomato Ketchup on the side for dipping. Separate sauces let people choose their own amount, which may briefly keep them occupied.
- Potato wedges: try a little spray on cooked wedges, taste and adjust. Different shape. Same mercifully uncomplicated plan.
